Dojo loaches
Hello
My name is April. I think i know a few faces around here. I have used this site for referencing a lot of information, actually, but since the only loach I personally own at this moment is two dojo's loaches, I have never felt a need to post...
however, i suddenly feel like some of you here may be able to tell me, being the loach lovers you are... I am wondering if anyone else, other then that article about them being spawned in a store sump, has bred them. I have a baby forlicking in my tank, right now.... bugger grew almost half an inch in two days.

Hi April,
Welcome to Loaches Online, and congratulations!
Apart from the breeding I documented here from Maidenhead Aquatics @ Lincoln, I know only of one other successful spawning and that was by renowned fish breeder Sallie Boggs who is known to have bred quite a few loach species.
We think our spawning happened soon after the fish arrived with us from a shipment from Singapore. We acclimatise very gradually and carefully, but these fish went into tanks with likely a much higher flow rate than their holding pools over in Singapore, and the fish systems at the shop receive at least 2 large water changes daily. I think a slightly cooler change coupled with the higher flow rate triggered these mature specimens into spawning soon after arrival.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon.
Waterchange, yup. And the java moss. Java moss is a fish aphrodisiac - or at least it's like a nursery.

well I am pretty sure that there are no others in there. it's fine with me, 3 dojos in a 75g is plenty. little jesus is growing so fast. he is hitting the 2 inch mark already. he is becoming more active. his personality seems more like his mom then his dad, but time will tell
here is a very dark video I took of him yesterday, with my digital camera's on board video camera. it's the first video i have made with it, actually
