I picked up 4 Gold Dojos today to go with my other 2 Misgurnus anguillicaudatus. They are small and have some growing to do before I move them to the 55 gallon with the other 2.

cute little munchers Barracuda, can't wait to see a pic after youve had them a while,
a question to all the dojo keepers, how low a temperature can this fish live in?.
could they live in a pond over winter, i know summers are fine to keep them outside.

A pond where?

I know there would be a big differene between the pond water in the UK and in Florida.

How about the lowest, comfortable temp? They seem pretty hardy and adaptable.

They can take it quite cool. I've had them live through some hard winters in a watergarden under the ice.

Baensch lists them down to 10*C (50*F). Certainly Florida, but elsewhere either bring them in or build a green house over the pond. I thought I remembered reading somewhere else a colder temperature was OK.

I had two that moved from a tank into the pond at 5" and both were over 7" when I finally lost them some 5 years later, given the extra space and depth of the pond they got very chunky as well one of them was over 1" wide and not far off 1 1/2" deep.

I wish I had a decent camera when I had them

I agree, my have at the moment 5°C. No problems noticed. In germany I've never seen the golden, only always the wild.

I've heard many stories of them surviving winters in British ponds - and one of them being found in a pond by the new owners of a house. The pond had drained to a muddy gloop for, I seem to remember, some time and the new owners assumed the wriggling was newts.

not sure that they'd enjoy any of this, mid; but it definitely doesn't kill them
