Loach compatibility question

Post by loachfan » Sat Jun 07, 2008 2:25 am

My LFS has some new loaches that I believe are Acanthocobitis rubidipinnis. When I checked the species index the notes indicate that it can be territorial and violent with other tank inhabitants.

I was wondering if it would be compatible with dojo loaches or if it would harm them?

Thanks for your help.

They will ignore dojos, I think. They are more territorial among themselves. If you get more than one of them, make sure they have a LOT of room, and good hiding spots. This is one brook loach that works alright as single specimens. They're super fish, though, and will grow to be about 5" TL.

They can be competitive with other brook loaches - Schistura and so on - but I only saw actual fighting between themselves.
