new kubotai loach pics

Post by ClownMob » Fri May 26, 2006 7:36 am

hi loachlovers :)

the kubotai's seem to be in season. I saw the "kubotai at petsmart" thread going, and have been seeing them mentioned around forums lately also.

petsmart near me had them in as well, and I couldn't resist and picked up a crew of 5. $19 each  not the best deal in the world I know, but i pro-rated over 10 years and its not so bad. :) best I could find online was $13, so I decided to go ahead and choose from ones I could see at the store.

most about 2", but one big fella actually over 3", so that was cool.

have been in 10g QT for about a week now, mostly left them alone, but managed a few pics couple days ago:

little fella decided to come out and pose a bit:

they seem to be doing well, eating sinking pellets and getting a little more active. no pic of the big one yet, he likes to hide mostly so far, got a couple of blurs. :)

heres one more, very similar but only other pic so far:

they will move to a peaceful 55g with some striatas and other smaller fish. still considering a larger "roaming" fish for the 55g, but want it to be small-loach friendly, no big cichlids like my O/clown tank.

any thoughts on maybe a large, peaceful fish that wouldnt hinder the little loaches? even rare/oddball type maybe? also thought about just keeping it a small fish/big tank type of thing, maybe just some more loaches and dither-types. any suggestions that may come to mind would be appreciated.

have a good day loachylunatics. :D
