Yes that was my impression. So I reviewed the species profiles on this forum and found the sids with an ideal pH range close to mine and found usually in still pools.

Calvus are actually quite placid and timid (well, for cichlids) and they are carnivores adapted to eat fish eggs and the tiniest fry. So they are GREAT with plants.

On another forum, I found someone who had lots of experience with both sids and Tangs. She feels that they'd be fine together while the Calvus are juveniles (1-2 years), but maybe not so fine together when the Calvus are adults. Based on this future possible aggression concern, I've decided not to add the sids.
