prazi observations

Post by Erik » Mon Jan 09, 2006 10:28 pm

After having tried levamisole with no observable results I got some prazi today.
The loaches that have skinnny had been through a vigorous qt 2yrs ago when I got them but I think some cross contamination happened.
So with two skinny clowns and "mystery" loach looks half histy and half Kubotai I gave it a go.
I poured the 70 gallons dose into my filters skimmer intake.
Within minuted all my fish were in a frenzy.
I could all these little 4mm white worms being shot out my spray bar wiggling away.
The fish were eating every last one.
Hopefully this works better that the levamisole.
With levamisole all my fish looked stressed and hid in the dark under plants.
I'm not sure if it was a light sensitivity but it seemed like it.
As soon as I change water they are back to normal.
Anybody have Prazi experiences they'd like to share?
Cheers
Erik

I lost five B. sids when I treated with Prazi. What did they have in common? Each of them slept in the holes and cracks of a large rock in the tank. I think lack of oxygen had to be a factor. All the other fish survived well.

That must've been quite a sight and a bit ironic. I will probably try some prazi' with my long-time slender clown.

Sorry - I don't get this... The worms were parasites? Or were they part of your prazi treatment? What happens when the fish eat the worms?

Sounds like a dramatic effect, either way.
Your vantage point determines what you can see.

Mark I have no idea if they were parasites. I'm guessing planeria.
All I know is they were coming out of my filters spray bar.
If it's planeria then the fish are just getting a free lunch.
I have seen them get eaten in my river tank by shistura mynerti's.

Cheers
