helen nightingale wrote:wow, i am so excited for you :D :D :D :D that is brilliant news. have you stopped shaking yet?

can you tell us about your water change regime? do you exactly match the water?

do you know anything about the water conditions where you got them from, compared to your water, if you think it might be a spawning close to when you got them?

what we now need is CCTV webcams on your tank, to see what happens when they spawn. i bet they wont do it again when you are watching them.

Now we have to hope that its going to become a regular occurence
Thanks Helen - yes the shaking has stopped now

Maintenance wise all 5 internal power filters are cleaned every week, one external is cleaned and the next one is cleaned two weeks after so that's 4 weeks between cleans. Water change wise the tank gets a 30% to 40% weekly change, the water is taken out by gravel vac and returned straight from the hose in summer and bucket in winter.

I don't know what the water was like that they were in before here, I got them from Pier aquatics - Wigan so wouldn't imagine that there would be to much of a drastic difference.

I still can't get over this great news Mark! If I am this excited you must be on the verge of losing your voice from excitement. I told random people today that B. kubotai was spawned and ppl where looking at me as if I fell off of Mercury.

I am glad you are so excited Mike

I have to admit I didnt get any sleep last night and then I think Ive only bred a fish "BUT ITS KUBOTAI" ImageImageImage

My wife keeps telling that I dont really realise the enormity of what I have done, its just a really weird feeling. I thought I would never better the sidthimunki.

I have had a **** head on another forum question whether or not I am actually the first to breed them and he will reserve judgement until I can prove it

That's two species out of the way. I think your next target should be.... :D
So many species of fish yet so little time, space and money to keep them all...
