Nice picture I made today (B. kubotai)... and a lot more now
Just got a new camera and thought I'd share a nice picture I made today.
I still have some stress in the tank, but this kub seems to like lying around on the rock just outside their main hiding place.

Thanks all!
The kubs are great. I have seven and this seems to be the youngest one, it's the smallest anyway (and most adventurous). I tried to capture the biggest one I have as well, but he wasn't having any of it. That was a shame as I think it's the most beautiful one. He's usually very shy, but I still think it's the alpha. He's very noticable when he's out, with his dorsal fin sticking up prominently.
The kyathit are great as well. Although they still swim in the lower parts of the tank, which is a bit unexpected. There's one territorial rock in the tank that one kyathit keeps defending. I don't know if it's the same one, but it's interesting behavior.

Thanks, I think he is. He's much bolder than the other ones even though he's also much smaller. Sometimes he seems to play 'tag' with the other ones. He'll tag a bigger one and swim away as fast as he can while seeing if the big one responds. If not, than he'll seek out another one and will do the same thing again. He can keep at it for an hour, easily.Botia Robert wrote:Nice Kub there Dutch! Looks a lot like mine! Is it a juvenile?

it is possible it's always the same fish mate, as it's a male and although the thoughts about danios is they are not territorial in fact some are, as a couple of lads here have proved.
it started with a small danio that hails from myanamar that was called the gold ring danio, a few of us bred them and a certain male was the only one to spawn with the females, and at spawning he took up a territory where he lured the females to spawn in much the same way a characin does.
by that was longwinded.

Small correction... I have 8 females.
I know I should be hard at work right now, but I've been having too much fun. Meet the gang!
This is their normal home.
Just to the right side of the last picture.
She (?) actually likes to rest like this.
For those who know photography, the next two are unchanged 100% crops.

Hi Erik, Nice camera the D80. I've had one for about a year now and just love it. I have the 18-135 and 70-300 lenses and my next one will be the 60mm Micro. I love the rich colours the Nikon gives.
Cheers Graeme. PS. Manual focus is really hard to master so stick to "spot focus" and use focus-lock. Always focus on the eye.
