qumqats, the fish I bought are definitely Kubotai babies. As I mentioned in the previous post, both fish were identical when I bought them. One fish acclimated and developed more quickly, and the other one hid most of the time. Some of my older Kubotais are brown, instead of black. If you look at the first picture on the previous page, the fish to the left of the baby is also a Kubotai.
I was at another pet store recently, and they had baby Histrionicas that look just like these. I guess they all look similar when young.
I'm wondering if the smaller fish in the first picture below is a Kubotai? It's supposed to be. Look at the color and pattern differences between these two pictures:
