Very impressive work on your tanks 8)

Regarding the LED tech., this chart shows the plant-growth-relevant efficiency of variuos lamps. It's measured in 2 approaches. The summary states, that you need approx. 30 LEDs (Cree XR-E Cool White) come near a 36Watt lamp. But in general, the light of those LED measured in that project, in regards to plant growth isn't all that bad already.

In this chart the above author shows the growth-relevant output per Watt for LEDs

I use some energy saving spots with integrated reflector where I need more light and have little space. They work fine.
Thanks, wasserscheu.
And thanks for the charts, too. Surprising data, actually.
I knew we are not far away from getting competent LED technology.

I use pc spots for extra light as well. This tanks is showing moderate to good plant growth with 6 x 28 w t5:s and a couple of 30 w (combined) spots.

LEDs are definitely coming.

This tank is amazing. My jaw actually dropped at those last pictures!

Thank you!

I was trying to show my other half this thread but none of the pictures on the other pages are loading for me. Have they been removed or is it just my connection?

Hi, Dave.

It's the next to useless imagebank the earlier photos of this thread are stocked in. I'ts been down for awhile now.
The owners have said it will be up "soon", but soon has gone tenfold already...

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The photobank still not working. Frustrating.
Makes this thread pretty much useless.

For anyone interested, I have uploaded a few of the essential pics in my blog.

Meanwhile, the Tillanzia caput medusae buds are growing

And another Tilly is starting to bloom.
