Cheni pictures

Post by LES.. » Thu Feb 12, 2009 4:53 pm

Knowing the grief i would get at next weeks meet about pictures i thought i'd attempt to avoid it by posting some shots of my Pseudogastromyzon cheni.

Image

They were telling me they were overcrowded in the tank tonight with a fairly heated dispute over a few of the stones which gave me the opportunity to snap some nice pictures of the loaches in their war paint and with their fins up.

Nice photos of beautiful fish! Thanks.
Why does my aquarium always seem too small?

Clean pictures!
I like a beautiful dorsal fin of Pseudogastromyzon cheni very much.
But it is difficult to photograph the dorsal fin neatly.
Thanks!

Thank you for all the kind comments (-:

They certainly are not the easiest fish to capture displaying, once that fin goes up it is usually a sign they are about to go charging off chasing each other (-:

All the pictures are linked to full size copies if you click on them, taken hand held with my Nikon D80 and 105mm macro lens. Horribly underexposed out of the camera just to try and get some depth of field with the lens and a fast enough shutter to freeze the motion. The biggest problem is keeping the camera a constant distance from the subject, with a DoF of 5-8mm at most a slight wobble can really throw off the focus point.

I must try with the tripod tonight.

Hi LES..

The pictures of Cheni I took before, too are introduced.
Unfortunately I wouldn't like the resolution of the picture and a contrast.

It was changed to a new camera from last month, so I expect to be able to take a good picture.

It's the same story down south too, the shops round here have Beaufortia kweichowensis or assorted Gastros but no Cheni, mind you i have stopped going to the shop that we originally got our Cheni from as it was getting too depressing to see the state they kept their tanks in )-:

Odyssey, those are some fine looking Cheni you have there, great shot of them peeing at each other on the leaves.
