Hopefully I have the right picture in this post. <afterchecking, yup! :D > This is the first time I've used a quote!!

What is the beautiful fish pictured here? It was love at first sight!! Is it some sort of Garra?? I am very interested in Garras and have added them to my wish list for my 55 Gallon tank I will be turning into a River Tank. I only seem to see Garra Flavatra, and would be interested to know what other kinds of Garra are out there.

Thanks,
soul-hugger

I ordered those direct from the Democratic Republic of Congo a couple of weeks ago as Garra lancrenonensis, was invoiced for G. ornata (???), but I think they look very similar to G. congoensis that I've had in once before. I will try to find out more and let you know.

To be honest I thought this was G.congoensis ? though having said that it does look a little different , I once had a group of Congoensis and found them to be quite sociable with each other !

Hi, LES.
Congratulations!

I infer that Gastromyzon of your yellow fin is G. viriosus.
The very rare Gastromyzon fish species.

I got 4 of those in January, but it also seems that Gastro was imported into Japan in quantities in February.

Below is my pictures.

I certainly believe that it is Gastromyzon viriosus going on the description. You have some lovely looking specimens there Odyssey, great pictures too (-:

Here is another picture of this loach in the stock tank at the shop (please excuse the water marks)

You can see the fin colour more clearly here but i don't have a picture in any way close to yours with the fins fully fanned out.

It has settled in well so far and i managed to get a few more pictures last night but they need a little tweaking before i upload them hopefully i'll find a spare few minutes this evening to sort them out.

The way this loach moves as it grazes over a stone is a real treat to see, it slowly lifts the front edge of its fins and seems to inch forward like a caterpillar.
