Where is the best place to buy new replacement filter pads for this pump ?

Also, how long or how often do these pads need to be completely changed and not just washed and reused ?

Again on the white filter pad, is it a good idea to throw this one away every time you clean the filter canister or is a good rinsing ok ?

Thanks Guys and Gals

I buy filter media from Marine Depot; they have the full range of Eheim physical, biological and adsorptive media as well as filter pads (the 2028 pads are at the bottom of the page).

With most canister filters, you can rinse and reuse the physical media for quite some time, but I have heard that these "white pads" stain particularly easily, and due to their fine nature, start to break apart during cleaning. Planted tanks, or tanks with above average waste will probably need these things replaced with nearly every major cleaning. I know they also make coarser blue pads which are a coarser, more rugged foam.

I feel that if you can get the pad clean, and it holds up physically, you have no need to replace it.

I have never bought replacements for my Eheims. I rinse and reuse until they fall apart, and the coarse sponges do not fall apart (I have had them going for years). The finer, more floss like media will compact over time, and I use the blue and white "Rite Size" filter media, and cut to fit.
