Post by mickthefish » Thu May 21, 2009 7:28 am

did this last night and thought of you lot, in this tank they are mostly botia but you can see there no reactions from the splendida towards them, plus right at the end of the vid there my favourite barbs of all time Cyclochielichthys janthocir they are all in the region of 8 inches body length.

Is it just me or did that splendida try to take a nip out of the flank of one of the other loaches at exactly 24 seconds from the end?

Sorted vid there Mick!

Love those Barbs as well - I've been keeping an eye out for them, but as with everything else, you guys have swiped up the whole lot! Doubt we'll see any Splendida here for a long time. What is the consensus on Splendida aggression? Less than Skunks? They look pretty well behaved. Haven't seen anyone post a horror story yet.

Glad to see they are doing so well!

Excellent Mick, he's a bold little bugger isnt he. I cant wait for my 9 to move into their bigger tank.

theonetruepath - that wasnt a nip or anything, if it was a nip the almorhae would have reacted differently for sure.

So far fairly placid for me, even though there is 9 in the tank there is some clicking but no aggression. They will even come out and swim with the danio's and feed with the danios and dont bother them like the skunks or even sid's do.

Ok its still early days but I would say that these could well be the most placid of the Yasuhikotakia group by far :)

yup totally agree with what Mark has said, they are a fantastic addition to my tank and eventually i want a group of at least 6 of them plus a few more cadipucs and longidorsalis to make a great looking contrast.

I have a new strategy - It's called Las Vegas! If I can get those collectors and exporters over here for a week of the best of EVERYTHING 8) Vegas has to offer on the house they will re-route all those Loaches straight to my house!!

I also did manage to get my mitts on 5 absolutely gorgeous Kubotai!! All 3.5 - 4" $20 US. I now officially have a mixed Botia setup 2 species - not official - 3 species - OFFICIAL!! Pics to come!

i made them, by cutting the pipes to length then using the biggest cable ties strapped them up, it's best with the pipes that sink.
if using pipes that are bouyant include a slab of slate to the bottom when strapping the pipes up.
go make some up Val. :D
