I did take more but they were not much good :roll: . He/she seems quite secretive and I had to use food to tempt it out of hiding. :lol:

From the side, it still appears more slender than what I would expect from many Botiine species. I think this is just how this particular fish is though, as it was Levamisoled several times and has been fed intensively for a few months now. It doesn't look skinny or anything, just more slender and slightly more elongate than other species. Hopefully Helen will be pleased with it's progress.

Kubotai's in general tend to be slender than other Botia's. (Not saying it is a Kubotai, but it is something closely related to them)...in fact, it seems fatter than any of my kubotai's.

i am very pleased! :D

the tank is now full and getting matured (so i am getting too excited) i am really looking forward to it being ready to put him in.

im glad to hear he's been a bit secretive. i had worried that a while a go he was a bit of a tearaway. he is looking fantastic. thanks so much Emma

Would it be possible please to let me know if the ventral fins of your fish fall short of the anus, meet it, or go past it.

As this fish is still in our care, and if Helen doesn't object, I can pop him into my photo tank and try for a quick shot of his underside through the bare glass bottom of the tank. Let me know if you'd prefer me not to move him Helen, I'll wait until I hear from you. :wink:

thats fine Emma. i cant see how it can do him any more harm than being hoiked out a river and carted to the other side of the world. it sounds like the Dark One is requesting this for a valuable purpose, so i am pleasd that you can do this. it is proably easier for you to do it like you suggest, than if i was to have him in a tank at home. and your photography is far superiour to mine.

is there any difference in ray counts between almorhae, kubotai, rostrata and birdii?

I dont think that there are any really useful differences. What I'm trying to check is the distance between the ventral fins and the anus (a character used by Menon).

Dont forget Botia dayi in all this!

Hi Emma

If you are taking it out to photograph it's underside, it would be a good opportunity to take a side shot if it whilst you have it out and not constantly moving about.
