I know someone who is having to get rid of her tanks and she has offered me 4 clown loaches and 1 blue loach (I think Modesta but cant be certain as I havnt seen it yet), I want the clowns but am not sure about the modesta but hse wants them all to go together.
I was wondering if a single modesta will intigrate with a group of Clowns ok, I have heard that single modestas can become aggresive does anyone else have single modestas and what are they like in general.

The best bet, if you have the space, is to keep the Clowns in one big tank, and the
Y. modesta in another.
That way you can get the lone loach some friends, so you have at least 5 in the group. Keeping one on it's own really isn't fair, and Clowns and
modestas aren't suitable for keeping together, particularly as the
modestas mature.

Thanks Emma, I may have to leave the Modesta then as I the only other big tank I could put it in already has my Dario, Rostrata and kubotai's in and I dont want to put it in anything less than 40 gallon.
I am not sure if it is already with the clowns because she has two large tanks and to be honest I dont know to many details until I go over to see them.

Well I got the modesta and the clowns this morning, when I went for the they were in the same tank and have been for a couple of years. The modesta was bought with the clowns and all have lived together since, I have put them all in my big tank with my other 8 clowns and they are all getting along great at the moment.
I may eventually let the modesta go to someone who has other modesta about the same size (4"), but for now I will see how things go

.
I will post some photos later

Lovely-looking loaches, Mark.

The problem you have is that the Modesta really should be kept with a group of it's own kind, and a big group of Modestas would cause trouble for the Clowns. Fingers crossed you manage to sort something out for him/her.
