Panda Garras and Gastros?

Post by Jim Powers » Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:27 pm

WOOHOOO!! :D
I finally got some panda garras!!!
They are currently in a Q tank, but I am already smitten. They are very interesting fish.
I was wondering, do any of you keep them with Gastromyzon?
My concern is that the Garras would out compete the Gastros for food.
I'm not concerned about the Sewellia, but I don't want the Gastros to get short changed on food.

Congrats Jim :D

I have only kept the Panda Garra's with Sewellia and there were no problems but when I moved the Sewellia out knowing I was getting the Gastro's I moved the Garra's in with other Garra's at the same time.

Flavatras are a great fish, I have a couple of flavatras with G.zebrinus and ocellatus and they get on fine I do have a lots of natural algae in their tank though. When feeding there Garras obviously are more dominant but they seem to prefer grazing on the rocks, than the prepared and live/frozen food. I think as long as there is plenty of natural food they should be fine.
