Loaches who are afraid of brussel sprouts
I decided to try a treat for my loaches last night to some brussel sprouts. I thawed them out in warm water, peeled leaves, stuck them on a fork (plastic), and nuked it in the microwave as recommended. I allowed it to cool and put it in the tank. Far from attacking the brussel sprouts, my loaches seemed to be afraid of it. My guppies had a great time picking at it though. I have never used any other veggies in the tank before. Did anyone have to do anything special to get their loaches to even try veggies? I have thought about using a food processor and turning it into a paste and freezing it.
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Rae

Some days my loaches go crazy for veggies. Zucchini, sweet potato and broccoli have all been very popular. But other days they turn up their little noses at them.
I got lots of clicking from my Zebras the first time I put in zucchini. But when I gave them another piece a few days later, they were completely uninterested.
Maybe it depends on their mood
I prepare my veggies by blanching them in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Once they're blanched, they usually don't float, so I don't need to weigh them down.

My clowns tried brussel sprouts once or twice but they don't like it much. Zucchini & leaf lettuces are favorites. I use a clownfish veggie clip & they'll at least try anything in it. Cherry wasn't popular either.
Try making a small slit in a zucchini slice & stick in a food pellet or wafer bit to help them get the idea. I use raw.
