Rate my tank

Post by Francois van Brederode » Thu Aug 20, 2009 4:57 am

Hi, I just thougt i'd post some pictures of my tanks, just to see if I could get some tips and pointers on them.
(and because i'm proud of them and like to show them of)

Here goes:

Old pic, the angelfish are in a bigger tank somewhere else now.

The tank is 100*40*45cm
Filter: 1xeheim2224 1xeheim2222
Co2 system
Led-night lighting
UV-lamp on the outflow
Zand for sustrate
30% water change weekly
temp 25-26 degrees

I keep Striata's, P.oblonga, P.myersi, L066, ancistrus, Gourami's, Rhinogobius wui, Garra Flavatra, redheadsalmon, and some horsehead's

Its been going for 8 months now with great water paremeters.
I've had trouble with alqae for a long time, wich is not strange with such a large stock, its all sorted now.

My other tank:

Recent pic, the javamoss does looks a lot greener now...

This tank is: 80*30*30cm (after decor, total 60 ltrs)
Filter: Superfish aqua-flow 2 (500ltr/h)
900ltr/h powerhead
Led-nightlighting
2 cooling fans
rounded dark gravel for sustrate
50% water change weekly

In this I keep: Japonica shrimp, crystal black shrimp, pearl danio's, african fanshrimp, and some pseudogastro cheni

I'll be adding another 900ltr/h powerhead this weekend to pleasure the hillies :D

So what do you think?

Both tanks look really beautiful. Your plants have filled in so nicely and your arrangement of rock and wood is excellent. I like your stocking choices. How many striata do you have?

Not that I'm biased -- OK, I am. They're my favorite.

Question is... how could you convince your Loaches not to eat your plants?

Great looking tanks! I'm particularly envious of your L066.

Ah, thanks for the nice comments.

Keith, I have 6 striata's fooling around in there.
The wood on the left is 2 pieces, the bottom one covered is anubias is completly hollow, it makes a brilliant cave for the loricarids.

Beta, yes its really javamoss, it just looks like crap at the moment.
I feed my fanshrimp dust food, this sticks to the moss and smothers it to death.
I think i'm going to take out the moss and replace it with something like a big anubias.

Starsplitter, thanks :D I love em to :)

Donna, haha, the new Myersi's are still pretty shy, i'll post some pics of the Oblonga if you like.

Marcos, I just ask nicely :D nah, I just let them eat them, they'll grow back fast enough, or they don't like them.

Dave, thanks, I quiet like them to, the female is F1, the male isn't.

Thanks!

The horsehead has a friend, and is a lot fatter and darker coloured now.

The kuhlies are absolutly great!
Especially after the fast-day, dropping a feedingtablet in it after that resembles a big ball of squirmy worms, so funny!
