Here's the left corner of the tank, showing the acrylic sheet held up with bottle caps:

And here's some of my six happy kuhlis under the shelf beneath the rock:

In addition to a comfy hide spot, it's also a great place to feed them (using 16" curved hemostats) so the angelfish don't wolf down all their food -- although I did see an angel go in underneath the shelf sideways once. I kid you not!

Saint Dracula, it's nothing more than four caps from bottled water filled with sand, and a hunk of acrylic set on top. The heavy rock decoration keeps it all in place. Sand sprinkled over the acrylic gives the kuhlis a sense of being protected, but allows some light in so I don't need to freak them out with a flashlight to see them.

Fishy Lady --
Intrepid? Is that a new euphemism for Frenzied & Slaveringly Rabid?
The acrylic is now barely half an inch from the front and side of the tank, and the angels can't bend to fit in underneath. So far ...

Now that I've started feeding the kuhlis after the light goes off, it's harder to get good shots of them. Here they are, all six materialized out of nowhere for some tubifex worms:
