One more Danio compatibiliy question -- Hikari ?

Does anyone keep them or know if this one is suitable for a fast current tank?

Very little info seems to be out there, fishbase does not even list them, while the Danios.Info site says nothing about the conditions. The body shape seems not sufficiently streamlined and thus *iffy* to me (image from the Danios.Info page):

Yep, I have had these in my River Tank for several months now. Very nice dither fish, and they definitely enjoy the flow, preferring to swim around in the areas of higher current.

Hopefully I'll get them at the end of the week (it is >100F next two days)...someone around here is selling several less common danios, so maybe I can solve the dither problem.

They're gorgeous. I do remember seeing them on Friday, but I was so busy drooling over the clowns and the baby Sewellia that I did'nt take much notice to be honest!

Danio's are underated IMO. All the species are really easy to keep and breed and some of the 'new' species are just beautiful. Perfect dithers too!

I hope you are right about this but the only way to find out is to try. I still have a fear of them being aggressive.

Before someone says this is crazy: I saw an aggressive batch of WCMM's; they picked on Gastros and Kuhlis at the store. Strange batch: they felt differentl-- something about the tones and swimming behavior was different from "normal" WCMM's...

Mine are in with the 2 types of Sewellia and Schistura balteata and they have never shown the slightest interest in any of them. Remember that this is the tank that the Sewellia fry came from too.

I've kept 3 species and I've never noticed the slightest bit of aggresion with any of them. Aside from chasing each other around now and again that is. The only thing negative I could say about Danio's is that they can have suicidal tendancy's - make sure there are no gaps in your lid!

Saw with my own eyes, they dive and tried to bite other fish.--at the store.

First Gastros, about three weeks ago. The tank was way overcrowded (>50 WCMM's in -- I think 15g -- together with maybe 20 Gastros), so I thought this was driving them crazy. Most of WCMM's (90%) died from an unknown disease, Gastros were sold out (I have some of them), and a few remaining WCMM's ended up with kuhlis. Well, they are not overcrowded now, and the disease is over, but I saw them attacking kuhlis still....

(I unfortunately have one of these WCMM's dithering Gastros now ... had four, three quickly died... Don't know what to do with it: I'm not sure it is safe to put with my other WCMM's, it is probably a different species anyway,...may have to give it back to the store after the heat wave is over. But at least it is not attacking Gastros in my tank.)

Interestingly enough I did not have this problem yet -- I have seven Giant-like danios (unclear sp.) dithering clowns, and they have made no attempts to jump for a year, so I keep the tank open most of the time now. Jumping suicides here were with Rasboras and Barbs?!.

(I have a feeling that jumping would not occur if the tank is deep enough...but I'll be careful not to give them a chance anyway)

Weird! Never heard of psychotic WCMM's before!

Regarding suicidal Danio's, I've only really had a problem with D. Choprae - lost two from jumping before I took preventative measures - although I found a zebra outside the tank ages ago as well.

I don't know if this was psychotic or not.

They also chased each other much more than the ones I have now -- this part was actually nice to watch. One sp. difference is the color of the fins (especially the anal): lots of yellow.
