Help with Loach identification
This picture popped up at a Swedish forum, and she wanted to know what it is. She said the she'd been googling on tigers, and suspected that it was some sort of tiger. It looks a bit like an S. Berdmorei, but I'm not 100% convinced that it is.

Looks like a close match to Botia Dario.
The forehead of B. Dario is a little higher and more rounded, with a longer snout than that of other Botias, yet not as long and pointed as those of Syncrossus. I have compared it to some online pictures, but it's hard to tell since this fish is out of the water. Your individual also has no spots on the tail or body, where S. Berdmorei does. Pretty colouration on this one!

Success is measured by the amount of obstacles you have overcome.

Okay! Yeah I first thought they were Striata too. This is a mystery I have to work out! Still no answer from the owner btw..random2 wrote:Have seen such ones here in India. They are sold as B striata. But the markings are definitely different from the ones I have seen before. Was almost ready to buy them till I noticed the difference.

My vote is also for Botia striata. The markings look exactly like the markings that I have had on young striatas. The lines will get closer as it develops. The red on the nose is also just like a striata. I don't think the fins are really red, but just a little pink from the hand behind them. The head is shaped a little different from a typical striata, but I don't think it is all that much different.
