Lizards in Chicago

I found some at Old Town Aquarium. "lizard loaches"

I read before, folks looking for these. 17.99

The colors on them look like desert camouflage, stunning.

they wont last long , there is no current in their tank
Genetically engineered "glowing fish" disgust me.

Any more info on care than is in the book/on Loaches.com? How big a tank do they like? Will they play well with Sewallia, gastromyzons, etc?

Am very tempted for the 48" hillstream tank we are setting up...

As an expert with one week of keeping these guys I can say that they don't bother with other species at all. They are very much aware of the presence of individuals of their own species and "defend" the spot they happen to be habiting.
But they really don't even notice Gastromyzons or Sewellias cohabiting the tank.

My Homalops are very small, less than 2".

I would say that a 48" tank is plenty. But as I say, my experience is very shallow...

they are prettier than any pictures I've seen yet

5 hours is worth it !!!

Mine are in a 65 gallon, 48" River-Tank with Sewellia, Gastromyzon, Pseudogastromyzon, Physoschistura and Nemacheilus species. They pay little heed to the other fish. In the past I've kept them as larger specimens which again largely ignored the other fish. Expecially at feeding time when they would career headlong through other fish to get to the food as if they didn't exist.

Of any species of hillstream I've kept these absolutely MUST have lots of current.

We have 4 powerheads rated for a total of 2500 gph or aut a 50 gallon tank (will be less once cobbles, etc, considered) That should be enough, right? Expect the river-tank manifold will cut down on max flow ....
