weather loach

Post by velvetsand » Fri May 28, 2010 11:21 pm

I have an adult weather loach and two fish tanks - one with docile fish in it and one with aggressive fish in it (mostly cichlids). I have him in the docile tank, but he's been eating my baby snails and I'm afraid he'll eat my baby guppies if I let them out. Would he be ok in the aggressive tank?

This is a cool water fish, so that might also play a part in the decision.
Most Cichlids are bottom area territorial, and the Weather Loach is a bottom fish, but quite peaceful. I do not think they would be a good match.

As for eating baby Guppies, move the baby Guppies to a 5-10 gallon rearing tank where you can give them special attention, special food, extra water changes and warmer water.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Please don't put that weather loach with cichlids. They are sweet, gentle fish and yes, they eat fry. Like Diana said get a rearing tank for the fry. THe loach also needs friends. They are not only fish. I have 9 together, and they dog pile together. THey sleep, eat and play together.
