Buying loaches online? Any good sites?

Post by kaffinated » Tue Aug 03, 2010 9:06 am

I've searched my local pet stores, searched online and still can't seem to find anywhere that carries either Khulis or Botias - anyone know a site that actually has any of either in stock in the US?

Thanks!

I gotten fish twice from this place http://www.invertzfactory.com/stocklist.htm

Frank usually does too but doesn't ship in too hot or cold weather http://www.franksaquarium.com/brookstreamloaches.htm Looks like he's out of lots of loaches

As far as sites, www.liveaquaria.com seems to have good selection and helpful articles.

Another idea is ask the manager at the LFS if they can special order something for you. I have inquired at two shops and they were both willing to add a special request to their weekly shipment, provided their wholesaler has what you want. It may also be more cost effective through the LFS once you consider shipping charges from an online vendor.

Just something to ponder.

What country do you live in? That makes a difference too. i think we're assuming you are in the US.

He does say in the post he's in the US -- just not in the location line :)

We've used Frank and Wet Spot (many postings on aquabid, but you can ask for an updated e-mail listing) and both were good, Frank is great!

Whoops! Sorry. I missed the US. In that case I would recommend Franks.

Have any good new sites popped up since this discussion started? Invertz Factory is closed and Frank's isn't stocking a lot in the way of loaches lately. No one I've found is carrying a large selection online, at the moment.

I have had a good experience with That Fish Place and they have a good selection of hillstream loaches currently. I am actually on the look out for botias... darios or rostratas - heck, I'd think about kubotai if they were cheap. But I just haven't been able to find much online.

You can find a lot of loaches on AquaBid.com and one seller there, Wetspot, will also sell from their business in Portland OR.

Thanks, bookpage. They've got quite a bit to choose from.

Might give this place a go:
http://www.aquaticimportshawaii.com/

I have heard good things about them, they do special orders - and if you check out there bottom dweller gallery http://www.aquaticimportshawaii.com/gal ... ew/15.html -- looks like they have imported some pretty large clowns.

Although he doesnt have a large selection of loaches RIGHT now, I highly recommend Frank at www.franksaquarium.com,
I have ordered a multitude of loach species from him and have NEVER had any problems.

Try "that fish place"-they have a pretty good assortment-although petsmart should have some as the other message mentioned, I am happy with the fish I did get-I ordered a few and they forgot to send 2 clowns, but they refunded me the amount for the missing fish!!! And I love my new fish from there!!!!
