Will a HOT Mag work with the Coralife turbo-twist 3x UV? If not, how about getting a Cascade Canister Filter 500 or 700?

Want be using any filter or bio stuff; just use if for pumping the water through the UV.

What do you all think?

Hooray!!!

I just realized that you were the person I gave my old clowns to when I looked at the pictures and was like "hey, those look like the patterns my old clowns had."

No dead clowns hooray!

What is the wattage of the UV Bulb? The watts will determine the flow rate you'll need to control parasites. For my 36 watt Turbo Twist, I use a 250 GPH canister filter.

Here's an article that should help-

Coralife turbo-twist 3x UV is 9W. Went to that website and it said only 15W and higher should be used for parasites.

This hobby really cost!

I just looked at my Turbo-Twist UV. It is the Pond Clarifier that treats 2000 gallons and they suggest a flow rate of 300-500 gph.

You should have the water filtered just before going through the UV. You want to eliminate floating particles, so that the UV rays are more effective. Any kind of debris can shield parasites/bacteria from the UV rays.

A canister type filter should work. I'm not familiar with HOT magnums, but if they have a spray bar attachment, that should work also. You might also want to connect a shut-off valve to the outflow tubing so that you can control the flow rate of the filter.

Thank you, chef. I had not thought about making sure the water was clean before going into the UV.

The Cascade Canister 500 is rated at 115 gph. So it should pass the water through the UV slow enough.

I think I am going to get the Cascade Canister 500 along with a 16W UV.

Thanks again for your help.
