Some tank design and stocking questions

Post by aquachromis » Fri Feb 25, 2011 3:31 pm

Here's my current setup (20 gallon long):

I originally had it set up with a typical river tank manifold but I couldn't stand the loud hum of the powerhead. So, I removed the powerhead and connected the piping to an AC110 filter. I guess my first question is, is there any reason to keep the manifold piping in place since there's no directional flow now? If I remove the piping under the substrate that would allow me to decrease the gravel depth and gain a little more water volume. Second question, will this single AC110 provide enough flow and water movement for hillstreams? I'm assuming adding other 110 would be overkill? It'd me more like living under a waterfall. If it's not the best set up for hillstreams what would be some good loach species to add to my current stock? Right now I have a few Garra flavatra in the tank.

Thanks,
Adam
