My 400L for Botia Macracantha

Post by Cobitidae » Sun May 01, 2011 11:37 am

Hi everyone! i am new here and i love this site..
I am from Italy, Florence.
I breed fishes from ages, but now i discoverede my real passion: Loaches.
So i decided to give to the shop all my Angel Fishes to have only Botia.
I was wondering: Is it ok to keep 10 Botia Macracantha in 400l? Can i add goup of 10 corydoras?
As i ead an articl here about a man having a 550L tank with 10 Botia macracantha, 7 other loaches and 13 corydoras.
As i would like to try reproduction in future (now botia are only 6-7 cm) i think in future i could buy abigger tank...but is it ok for now to let 10 btia grow uo in 400l?
thanks

i was also wondering if anyone here have ever tried to have a rproduction of Botia...in an italian forum 2 users have done this...one had 12 botia in 3000L and the other a smallr tank and they both breeded Botia M.

Hello, your 400l tank is too small for 10 adult Botia macracantha. Okay for babies but you will need to buy a bigger tank when they grow. Adult Botia macracantha is 40cm length. Corydoras sp. grow to about 5cm length. Not a good combination! Choose big, peaceful companions for your clown loaches e.g. 'rainbow fish' or 'kissing gouramis'.

It would be nice to use English. Is this what you said?

"I know it to thanks in fact I wanted to put them in larger bathtub between some year."
