New loach genus - Pteronemacheilus

Post by Emma Turner » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:20 am

Bohlen & Slechtova have described a new Schistura species (S. callidora) from the Myitnge River drainage, Irrawaddy basin, in Myanmar. They also detail the new genus Pteronemacheilus and it's type species P. lucidorsum in this open access paper:

The paper includes a wonderful habitat shot of the type locality in Hsipaw, Myanmar.

Hi emma,

I just decovered that I had baby hillstream loaches in my both of my filtration systems and i moved them to my 10 gallon tank. and i am at a lost on what to feed them. i have been giving them small bits of high quality algae wafers that I feed to my other bottom feeders in the 120 gallon.
