An Update on My tank

Post by LoachOrgy » Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:39 am

90 gallon 2 aquaclear jet heads, 2 rena x3 fill canisters.

In the past I had 55 gallon with 8 clowns. I had an aquaclear 60 and a jethead. The tank was overstocked and I had a bacterial outbreak that killed half my clowns. My biggest died as well that was 6" at the time a few years ago.

Since then, I upgraded to the 90gallon have 5 clowns and 7 striatas.

I over filter this tank big time. I also clean it religiously. I previously had a river tank manifold setup. But I decided to remove it recently because my loaches are getting bigger and the filters take up alot of space on the bottom of the tank. Otherwise I love the system.

Since I removed this, I added two canisters to my jetheads. I have been taking care of my office tank that had 3 loaches with cichlids. Well needless to say they were getting bullied and the disease outbreak in that tank was not optimal for their living habits. I treated them 3 times over the course of a year with antibiotics and whatever is in that tank is still there. Luckily, I was able to keep the loaches and add them to my 90 after the last successful treatment. Now all 8 of the clowns are having a huge party everyday. They are 10 times more energetic and now much more brave than usual. Here is a video of them playing.
the only antibacterial treatment working for me is tmp sulfa. this stuff is amazing. i had an entire year i lost all my ornamental fish to a bacterial outbreak. tmp is the only thing that worked. and now i have successfully treated many tank mates ect over 10 times with success. i highly suggest it.

you can see the two babies and the other office loach is about 3.5". I have another clown the same size and they are just lovers now! :D

biggest clown is 6.5" and smallest are the new babies about 2.5" each. i have roughly 4 other clowns about 3" or bigger. 7 striatas(biggest is 3"), 2 upside down cats, one lonely glass fish, and 1 tiger pleco.

because these loaches were with cichlids they have to be a little more aggressive to get food. so they swim near the top of the tank and all over. they come right up to me and almost click and bark at me. so now the other clowns are starting to be a little less scared than they usually are. the addition overall is definitely welcomed.

i also have a 20 gallon rostrata tank. they are all small now. eventually i may add them to the big tank but for now ive had them about 1 year. i had one die all of the sudden out of nowhere. i think he must have been injured from the current and broken some bones or some kind of internal injury i couldn't see. the other 5 i have now are in perfect health. he just came up to me one morning and couldn't swim. i separated him and when i got home he had passed. poor guy.

That is pretty cool. What happy healthy looking loaches. :) I never thought to give them tomato. Is the clicking on the audio your loaches?

I have a quarantine tank filled with loaches and when I throw in Hikari pellets they click and sound like they are throwing pebbles at the class. They are great. :)
