Bamboo Shrimps and Clown Loaches

Post by yendor » Wed Sep 19, 2012 3:12 pm

Hi All,
It's been a while since I last posted and I thought I ought to contribute and give an update on my set up. All the little guy's are doing well, the clown loach are flourishing and actually getting a little "showing me who's the boss" as when I drop my net in to remove the remains of the cucumber they hang around as if saying, what you doing on our patch? As they have progressed it has altered the dynamics of the tank and I sometimes get a bit concerned about my Bamboo Shrimps as they seem to take a bit of a buffering as the clowns race about gathering food after feeding, although the shrimps seem to take it in there stride and continue feeding whilst taking the odd knock. Can anyone advise me if this will become a problem or if the shrimp will eventually be seen as food, also if anyone can offer a suggestion affording the shrimp a bit of protection it would be gratefully received. Thanks and I hope everyone elses set up is doing well.

Those are some brave bamboos. I can't even imagine having mine with clowns. Mine live with garras and guppies and get bumped a bit. My big male smacks his front clows in front of fish if they get too close, and it is a good deterrent. But my bamboos are as big as the fish in the tank. I would rehome the bamboos into a nice planted tank they can call their own. I think you will have a shed, and the bamboos will be lunch. I also wonder if they are getting enough to eat, but clowns are messy, so there's probably lots of stuff floating in the tank. I've had mine working on their second year.
