Anomaly in Gastromyzon??

Post by Hendra » Fri Sep 01, 2006 12:35 pm

I have about more than 20 specimens of Gastromyzon sp. "SK01" which I collected from 2 spots of the same stream. All of them looks as the same species, except 1 specimen, looks rather different.

Basicly this "odd" specimen looks very similar with others in body shape, bar pattern (body and caudal fin), and snout (strongly truncate with protrusion at both tips), but it differ in lacking tubercles at body and paler color at caudal fin and body, the last difference cause its scales can easily observed.

Is this just an anomaly ? and
Is this also happened in another fish species?

Here the pictures as comparison,

The "normal" one,

The "different" one (sorry rather blur but still can show the differences),

Snout (commonly found) in G.sp "SK01", the only different fish also have the same snout form.
