Hillstream loach River Tank idea

Thinking about putting together a DIY acrylic 72"x 12"x 12" (45 gallon total, but i'm only going to fill it 3/4 of the way) river aquarium with a sump so the water flows mostly one way. Any inputs welcomed as this is going to be mostly trial and error.

-Water flows in from the right through a 900 gph wet/dry pump sitting in the sump. (20x water exchange a bit overkill? Trying to achieve a "Fast Flowing Stream")
-Hits the overflow box which will be lined with sponges in case anything decides to jump into the overflow box (The sponges will also muffle the sound of the water crashing into the overflow box)
-The water get filtered/oxygenated in the sump and rinse and repeat.
Was also thinking about drilling into the outflow pvc pipes and adding a barb fitting so i can attach an air pump to it so the water is nice and rich in even more oxygen before it flows out into the tank.

Anyone try anything similar care to chime in? Any inputs welcomed.
