I hope that works. It's a link to a pic of this loach I just rescued. He is about a foot long and from what I was told between 8 to 10 years old. I was thinking maybe some kind of leptobotia but I can't find an I'd anywhere. So if anyone here can help that would be amazing! Thank u so much.

Can you look through the species indexed by picture/shape? Maybe you will have to follow out a couple of times, but if you think you are getting close, go read about that species and look for notes about 'similar Loaches'.

I spent hours searching the index and google and anyplace I could find. And no luck. I've asked my LFS workers to see if they know. And I have squat. So anyone who may have an idea please let me know. But my worry about aggression was put to rest. He is nothing but a huge sweetheart. He is schooling with my two six inch yo yo's even tho he is over twice the size they are. It's very cute lol. Still would like to know at the very least so I can research him and be sure I'm giving him all he needs. Thank you!

Well your pics work. :) See if you can get one from the side. My guess would be yasuhikotakia modesta.

Ill try. I don't think so. His fins aren't red. And he has these faint stripes (vertical) on his body. And is just to long and his nose is really long to compared with the modestas I've seen. Thank you for replying. I hope to figure this out. Either way he is doing great. Very sweet. And living with my adult yo yo's very happily :)

That was my first thought but he isn't a tiger. You can't see his stripes unless your shinin a light on him and they are just a bit darker silver than the rest of him. He has no markings on his face and no blue green tint either. I'm stumped. I even took him to a professor of mine (I am currently getting my degree in marine biology) and he hasn't been able to figure it out either. I'm wondering if he was a contaminant fish and isn't one that is often seen in the trade.

At first I was wanting to research so I could make sure that I cared for him as well as I could. But I've had him awhile now and has gone from "never out of his cave or swimming around" to eating out of my hand and tearing all over his 125 with my yo yo's. So he isn't aggressive and is obviously happy. Still I wish I knew....
