i'm pretty sure they are, they tail coloration matches, but in my tank they are more cream colored, and they heads are more spotted. also the stripping appears to be much thicker than any photos i can find.

i'm waiting til i get paid this coming friday to pick up dr, tans book.

He remainds me G.ocellatus. Could you show a photo of his side?

G.ocellatus doesnt have the number of stripes that these guys have. i've seen a few different photos for what zebrinus should be, and some of them look similar to what i have....i'm waiting til pay day to pick up dr.tans book, which might help me.

anyway here is a side photo, sorry this guy is the most social, but tends to be washed out into this cream color.

It really doesn't look like zebrinus to me but there is quite a bit of variation in that species. The one in your hand looks somewhat like viriosus but they tend to have yellow on the finnage . More pics might help. Nice fish regardless of what species. :D

some of the Zebrinus photos i saw looked pretty close to what i have, but some of them had the full stripes all over the body, inculding the hea,. and actually i think there are some full stripped Zebrinus on aquabid right now that i want to get, but i'm stocked to the hilt in my tank :-(

anyway, the two hand photos are two different fish. i was able to get another photo today that shows some fin color. the virosus are beautiful fish, but sadly not what i have. sorry these photos aren't in focus i was on the phone while trying to take them, since for once he had good color to his body.

the tail fin is orange on the top and bottom, with blue in the middle. i still have not seen the dorsal open to know the design or full color.

this guys is up under the rock, and gives you a very good look at the stripes

The fish in these pics look most like ocellatus.

i'm really confused also. i'm wondering if i have two different guys, that nearly identicle?

these sites all say zebrinus,
http://www.maccus.de/gastromyzon-zebrinus/
i don't speak the language so i have no idea what it says, but the photos seem to match what i have
http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/ga ... -zebrinus/
the tail color is diff, but patterns look the same
http://www.loaches.com/species-index/ph ... 5.jpg/view
tails match up here

the tail colors to me, don't match with ocellatus, its very difficult to tell in the photos, but the tails on what i have are only orange on the top and bottom, with almost solid blue in between.

As I said before, there is a lot of variation in zebrinus patterns so that's certainly a strong possibility. It will be interesting to watch these fish as they mature. Zebrinus often start out heavily striped but the pattern morphs to an almost stellatus like spot/stripe pattern. I have several like that. I also have a very small one that has a barely visible pattern of small broken stripes.
