pseudogastromyzon fasciatus

Post by Jim Powers » Sat Nov 22, 2014 11:06 am

I picked up some of this species the other day. Its the first time I have seen them in about 10 years.
So far they are grazing but I'm still waiting for them to start eating bloodworms, brine shrimp and pellets.
Wish me luck!

Good luck! You're always finding cool loaches :). I wished my LFS carried these type of loaches but so far, there is not a demand for any hillstream loach, locally.

I guess I am lucky to have been able to find a few fish stores that indulge my needs as best they can. :D

I may get some pics after they fully settle in and color up. I have no idea where they came from. I think the store in Indianapolis that had them got them as zebra hillstream loaches.

Well, so far so good. I am frustrated that I have not seen them feed besides grazing. Their intestinal tracks are working (they are pooping) so that's good but I would like to see them feed on pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp and spinach leaves like most Pseudogastros do. I know that it sometimes takes hillstreams awhile to take to foods, but this seems like a long time (1 week) for a Psuedogastromyzon.

If they are pooping, they are fine.... will be feeding more actively eventually.

Yes, I'm probably worrying for nothing, but its been ten years since I have seen this species so I want them to do well.
