Oldest Clown Loaches now 23 yrs

Post by redshark1 » Sat Dec 31, 2016 7:46 pm

Happy New Year Everybody!

All of my original 6 Clown Loaches are still with me.

They are now 23 years old having been purchased on 03 January 1995 when they were probably a year old.

I managed this pic of Anthia (my biggest) tonight.

Image

The eye of the fish looks bright because I needed to use flash to pick out the numbering on the ruler.

Many thanks FranM and good luck with yours. Luck definitely plays a part along with consistent care.

You're welcome and Happy New Year to you also. Thank you, I hope my clowns and yoyos stay with me for the long haul.

I believe my daughter was still in high school when I got the silver dollars. So even if I got them in 2009 her senior year, I'm still on the originals almost seven years later. I'm proud of that. They are very hearty though too skittish for my liking yet they will hand feed. But when the water level gets low at water changes they go ballistic! Don't know how at least one hasn't killed itself banging into glass. LOL.

They are nice looking and do stay up front and I like that.

Another good big reliable up-front fish which isn't skittish is Kissing Gourami.

I rate them highly although if you get two, one may chase the other constantly.

I've only kept one, but maybe a group would be good in a big aquarium.

Wow, that is impressive Redshark!! That is one big, beautiful Loach. I don't have Clowns but I do have some Blue's (Y. modesta). They have grown nicely in the 2 years I've had them but the largest is only approx. 4". Maybe slightly larger.
