The ICK wont shift still!

Post by Hell Fire » Thu Oct 05, 2006 12:16 pm

As some of you know my clowns have had ICh now (amoung other problems such as being stucl!) for a while. It seemed to be getting better but one of my clows (the smallest) is coverd in it and seems to be getting worse. Im really doing all i can as know all about ICh how to treat, life cycle etc but just cant seem to finish the little blighters off!!!
Has anyone else had a really long infestation? My water stats are all good apart from the ICh of course so what can i do?
Ive also noticed that more spots have apeared on the tetra which were not there yeasterday! Ive been treating water life every 12hrs at half dose and the temp is up to nearly 30. Also regular water changes, i only ahve the sponge filter in so know that the treatments not being filterd out at all.

I had a really bad persistant case of ich in my Clown tank recently and after several doses of Waterlife Protozin I changed to Waterlife Myxazin and it sorted it within 3 days and (touching wood) it hasnt returned.

Hmm i may have to try that stuff. Never heard of it. I was useing interpet but it wasnt helping so changed to this and it did start to clear up. Im seriousely worried about loosing the smallest as hes lost his colour and is looking very bad now, worse every day.

Don't do this until Martin or someone else who knows a lot signs off on this but I'd personally rocket the temperature up in there to about 90... and move the surface like mad...

And just sit beside the tank and watch to make sure you aren't overstressing your animals.

the Ich WILL go sterile and start to die inside of 12-14 hours with this. If you manage to keep the temperature up for another day or two it'll be erradicated. I was forced to do this 3 years ago but it was an SA tank and Angels and the like can take that...

With Discus its a cinch because you just jack up to 91-92 and nobody's worse for the wear...

Thanks for that, ill wait to make sure this is ok as im really upset as i woke thismorning to find the better of the 2 smallens dead!
It was odd as he hardly had any spots whereas the other is so plaged hes almost white!! It just gets worse and worse. The one that died (garfield) was swimming odd horizontaly etc floating about hitting the glass, up to the surface then darting down the bottom and i could even touch him when i out my hand in to add some cucumber. Definatly something wrong. Im really upset hes gone :(
There still in the little quarentine tank so lucky for me its easyer. I have 6 neon tetras and black neons as dither fish (also keeps it cycled) and am not sure they will stand the temp!
My dads also annyed me big time lol Hes also got into fish not long ago and i got him a tank etc, he got white spot and is going on about going out and getting more fish!!! I give up at the mo!! He got white spot as he borrowd my hoover, it was steralised etc but he must of missed 2. Ive been over and treated it for him etc and luck would have it it seems to of gone, but ive told him wait at LEAST 4 days!
