Loach flashing - Should I be worried?

Post by andsoitgoes » Thu Oct 05, 2006 7:16 pm

Hi all - My main 46g planted tank is having a minor problem, well - at least I HOPE it's minor.

One of our Yoyo loaches that's been in there for well over a month and a half now is showing signs of flashing against the gravel. I've never been a good judge of gill actions, but it LOOKS like he's gilling a bit faster than normal.

We have recently lost a few Gouramis, not sure the reason but they had no outward signs of illness, and the same with the loach. Outside of the flashing and a bit faster gill movement, he seems just fine.

The tank is perfect in all respects, 0 on all fronts and I haven't done a nitrAte test recently, but it is heavily planted.

Any thoughts? There are 2 in there and the other is doing nothing of the sort at all.

Thanks in advance!

Nick

If you think he might be sick, move him to a quarantine. That way,if he is sick, it will have little chance to spread, and you'll probably be able to observe him better in a smaller tank.
My loaches:
5 kubotai
5 almorhae
5 kuhli
5 zebra
1 aborichthys
