Hello all you Loachaholics,
Been visiting this site for all it's vast knowledge for a few years now, and finally decided to join after my latest loaches proved abit of erm tank terrorists. Sorted that problem now tho.
I keep 2 tanks with quite a few shy and cheeky loaches for about 8 years now. What a journey!
Thought i'd say Howdoo to you :D

Hello everyone,

I've been referencing this site since 2011 when I set up my first tank (since childhood and I'm 46 now). I was researching what type of fish I wanted to add and came across Dojo's and fell in love. I've been a loachaholic ever since!!

Would like to say a big "thank you" to everyone on this site. It has been extremely helpful with my loach keeping. I found the book written by forum members and still reference it or just read it for entertainment.

I have 10 tanks now, courtesy of MTS. All but 3 have loaches. One has guppies, one has Akysis vespa's and the 3rd is brackish for 5 Indian Mudskippers. I also have 3 rescue cats, Puff, Chloe, and Acorn.

Here is my list of loaches:

120g
histrionica
Sids
kubotai
dario
Dojo's
striata
unk. botia but has a reticulated pattern. He never did have a yo-yo pattern though.

125g
Y. modesta (Red tail blue loach)
S. berdmorei (arrived today from WetSpot)

80g frag
Horseface
Kuhli
Niwaella delicata
Rosy loaches (these actually breed for me)

75g
Peppermint loaches (Traccatichthys taeniatus)
Sinibotia pulchra
Mesonoemacheilus guentheri

40b
Dojo's
Yunnanilus brevis

20l
Various kuhli's
Dojo's

20l
Yunnanilus cruciatus

I also have other various fish in each of these tanks too.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I want to learn more about setting up a proper river tank. My favorite fish is the Sewellia.

I hope to find a lot of pic's and story's about your tanks !

Thank you so much for educating me about the joys of owning loaches. I keep gold dojo loaches that are different as night and day. I recently made the mistake of putting 2 baby loaches about 3" long in the same tank with my 9" long papa loach. Whoever said that loaches are docile never met my big loach. He was digging into the substrate and spitting rocks at the aquarium walls to get to them!! Live and learn I guess...
