Sewellia for sale but not lineolata?
flipaquatics has just put hillstream loaches on their website. They’re calling them Sewellia lineolata but they don’t look like it to me. Can anyone id this fish?

Not S. lineolate but I'm not sure which it is.

Hi
I would say Sewellia SEW03.
http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/sewellia-sp-sew03/
But: as stressed specimen kann lose a clear pattern and Sewellia SEW02 is quite similar in pattern and as they develop the definitive pattern with growth ... That means, saddleback markings e.g. can be incomplete/broken until adult ...
After some hundreds of bred specimen of either species I couldn't tell it with certitude.
Cheers Charles

Would it be ok to mix this fish with my S. lineolata? Or should it be kept separate to prevent inter breeding?
Re: Sewellia for sale but not lineolata?
Hi
That's no problem, they don't crossbreed. Actually I have S. lineolata, SEW03 and SEW01 in one tank with about 200 youngsters. All without any sign of cross-breeding. Some time ago in one tank SEW02 and SEW02 without cross-breeding which I had exspected.
By the way: have a good look that the other species gets enough food as S. lineolata is quite strong-willed even as smaller species.
Cheers Charles

Re: Sewellia for sale but not lineolata?
Thanks for the info! Is there someplace with clear pictures of the different Sewellia species?
Re: Sewellia for sale but not lineolata?
There used to be several on the loaches main site species page but I didn't find them just now. Charles's link is to his pics of fry & adults. Here are SF "sewellia" species on seriously fish http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/search/sewellia. HTH

Thank you so much!
Re: Sewellia for sale but not lineolata?
They could it be Sewellia breviventralis. Sewellia breviventralis is very similar to SEW03 (I can not see difference).
