I don't know, but it seems a bit better, a smaller black area. What do you think, Fran?

Certainly no worse. A little bit of white stuff like before. Could be residue. Fish is coming out more believe it or not. Will get another photo tonight.

Thank you for looking.

Fran

Your teensie clowns et al are looking good! I can't tell about the $. Do the best you can with WCs. I don't know what to suggest other than that. It seems active...& eating? Fingers crossed! Good luck!

Though it comes out a bit more than it has, it still hides for the most part but comes out when it sees me and DEFINITELY it’s eating and active when it’s out. Perhaps it still feels it’s protecting itself.

Thanks, Nancy.

So how's your silver $ doing, Fran? Any changes?

That’s Silver dollar is still going strong. No matter has been coming out like it had before. There is still a hole and you can see a little black stuff, don’t know if it’s cavity, or an abscess. But it’s moving around perfectly it’s still eating perfectly fine. It still hides for the most part, but every once in a while I will look at the tank and I will see all of them out. I still won’t know what to make of it all, but it seems to be doing OK despite the the littler crater on its side.

Thanks for checking in. I really don’t need to post a picture because it’s really not that much different than the last one.

Good to hear that Fran.Hopefully it gets better and better. After a thing like that coming out it may need longer time, which is normal.

I don’t like how Mr. Slim (larger clown) looks. Both he and the next large clown have black spots. Slim has that mushy look around his head again which I haven’t seen since they were moved in August. The teensies look perfect.

Nitrate was about 20 ppm yesterday before a 30-40 % water change. Today, PH is 7.2., GH is just about 2 and KH is 5. Is this a soft water issue again?

The silver dollar, considering, looks ok.

Thanks.

Fran

The silver dollar looks ok, considering. What a tough fish :D

As for the clowns, just keep up with your water changes. It is not a disease. What's your TDS?

Yeah. I’m shocked at how the fish has survived!

So TDS In tank is 291

Tap water is 90

16 oz of tap water with about a 1/8 of a teaspoon of baking soda added shot the number to 587.

I added 3 teaspoons of baking soda to the water change water yesterday so it’s hard to accurately determine total dissolved solids in tank water. Even adding Prime raises TDS. So I’m not sure if TDS can be relied upon. I need baking soda to keep the KH in an ideal range as I need Prime to neutralize chlorine.

Yes, TDS can be relied upon and I'd personally keep it a bit lower than what you've got now, as discussed in the past.
I dose Seachem Safe every weekend I it has never been the reason for TDS accumulation.

The soda will add some TDS but not 3 times your tap water reading.

I’m sure Prime, Stability and baking soda must have a noticeable impact on TDS.

I wish I was good with the math to replicate the dosage on a must smaller scale to see the before additives and after result.

Just test the tank before and after. No need to replicate on smaller scale. It is all the same as ppm means concentration and takes the size of the tank into account when producing the result.
