Starting a kuhli/zebra loach setup

Post by Joe_Kuhl » Mon Mar 02, 2020 3:56 pm

Hello everyone,

I am going to be starting a new aquarium for my kuhli loaches and will be adding botia striata (hopefully). What is the minimum foot print I should have? Looking to upgrade to at least a 75gal.

Thanks in advance,

Joe Kuhl

I think in a 75g with lots of hiding spots like wood, rocks & plants, you could keep quite a few of each. I have not kept those together but it should be fine. Say maybe 8-10 striatas & 12+ pangios (kuhlis). All the same species of pangios is better but I did keep 6 oblongas & 8 semicinctas & some other small(ish) loaches in a 4 ft 40g. My semis were much more mellow & people friendly but I'd had them for several years before adding the oblongas. Striatas were always shy in a 75g with more outgoing sids, except at feeding times.
