Hello from an old time LOL member

Post by Mophir » Fri Aug 28, 2020 1:22 pm

Hello to anyone who may recognize me,

I was a very active member at Loaches Online from when the site first started in 1997 until 2005 or so. From then on I would frequently check posts and intermittently write and comment as well but I haven't been following or been on this site since 2006 or so, so its been a while. Wondering if any of the other old timers are still here or if its a completely new crop? (Happy to hear either way). No guarantees I will be checking here frequently as I no longer keep aquarium fish at all (ah, the good old days, no time for it now though I am afraid) but interested to follow intriguing discussions etc.

Doesn't seem like the site has been updated much since maybe 2008? Anyway, just passing through.

All the best,

Michael Ophir

Hello Michael,

I joined in 2008 but remembering your name well. Was also some years absent here and it seems the old crew is long gone.

Cheers
Thomas

Nice to see you! Many of us have gone to Mad Duff's (Mark Duffill) FB site Loach Fanatics. Hope to see you there sometime even if you don't have fish right now...you may come back to tanks & loaches again...you know you want them!

Thanks Thomas and Nancy! Good to see you here. Do you have to have FB to access the Loach Fanatics site ?

Me not, I was in the group (and some other loach related groups) but I've deleted my account. Loach fanatic was mostly good, others aren't.

So I've started to use my hobby more offline. :)

Mike, I remember meeting you at your Boston AS talk many years ago (12+ ?), a good 1...& you signed my Loach Book! I'm on the west coast now...but still into loaches!

I believe you have to have a FB acct. & be approved by Mark to join. I'm not much of a social media person, Mark's site is kind of like the LOL of old, some newbs, some not, but some old knowledgeable people don't FB...you won't be the only 1 we miss.

So what's on your post doc grown up agenda? Are you in the Boston area again? You can pm me if you don't want to say in public, lol. I'm a private person too.

Hello, Mophir!

Strange, I just decided to check in today after not being on the site for years.

I joined in 2005.

You look too young to have joined all that time ago.

Hi. I am myself just popping back after a few years away. It makes me so sad that many of the old timers have moved to FaceBook.
