Misgurnus mizolepis?

I've been reading and noticed that my smallest weather loach, recently purchased a week ago, has orange eyes like the FAT loach on the species index page. My two golds look like the ones at the bottom. My bigger grey loach looks like the smallest but does not have the orange eyes.

Does this mean one of them is the 'subtropical' loach?

I had plans to construct a pond this summer and intended to stock it with goldies and a pair of wild weathers since they're finally beginning to stock them locally. I can't tell the difference between the two species, is the eye color the only difference? I ask because I don't want to risk harming a pair of subtropicals if they can't tolerate, or won't like the Texas fall and winter.
