One of my clown loach got well and truly stuck in one of those fake logs. The loach was covered in slime, I managed to release him and removed as much of the slime as posible from the tank, however, within 30 minutes five other fish in the tank had died. The loach is fine. Is this some kind of poison he released :? :?

And where is Mr. Holmes when you need him?

Did you put anything on your hands before releasing the clown? Small amounts of lotions/detergents may kill entire tanks quickly....

Hi Val,

Sorry to hear about your Clown. They like tight crevices, and usually if they can get in somewhere, they can get out. Yours doesn't seem to have been very lucky though.

There was an interesting thread regarding toxicity in Clown Loach slime on here quite recently, which can be viewed here:

Hope this helps,

Emma
