indents on weather loach

Post by joitoy » Fri Mar 23, 2007 10:28 am

I awakened this morning to take my son to school and while groggily passing the 75 gal, noticed something peculiar.

They're spawning -again-

After I'd got him off to school i pulled up a seat to watch and noticed she looks much fuller, like she'd gone from a size 6 dress size to a 10. Also, below the dorsal but above the anal fin, there is a slightly deep indent marked white against her pink body. It's not an injury, I can tell, because it is symmetrical and exists on the other side too.

What could this be?

I'm tentative to remove the filter intake pipe from the side they're mating on, but I want to so I can add a nylon stocking to it, hopefully to catch any eggs that might have been sucked in. I dont know if the brief interruption in circulation will upset them or not since I've read they like the heavy flow of the filter during spawn.
