Sewellia lineolata videos

Post by Emma Turner » Tue Mar 27, 2007 4:16 pm

Here are 3 short video clips of my Sewellia lineolata, which I took to show how they move about, for those who have never seen them 'in the flesh'. These were taken shortly after adding a bit of food to the tank.

First off, this one shows some of the adults and some of the young:

This one shows them on the glass and the manifold sponges:

And I included this one for the 'nose shove' at the beginning:

Unfortunately, the photobucket hosting does seem to result in loss of quality, and sometimes you have to try 2 or 3 times to get each video to run properly. Please turn the sound down otherwise you'll hear my camera constantly refocusing!

The Spotties were, unfortunately, being extra reclusive and would not venture out into the open for me.

Anyway.......hope you all enjoyed them! :D

I really enjoyed the videos. I was fascinated watching the fish move--it was almost like they glided around effortlessly.
No wonder so many of you keep them. Thankyou for sharing. :D

Great videos of beautiful fish! The refocus on your camera is a really excellent feature. I wish mine did that!

Thank you all! :D

Mark, this is a very fine grade black silica sand. It has the same feel as the Silver sand (actually a light golden colour) that we see here in the UK quite often, but is of course, black instead. It's a little weird when first giving it a rinse, but after that settles just fine and the fish love it. Helen has also used this same sand in her new Botia tank.

Dave, yes the refocusing is a very nice feature, although the noise it records is a little annoying! I can't see a way of turning the noise off unfortunately. :?

Loachmom - yes they definitely glide, quite stealthily at times too!

Thank you Emma. I am impressed and surprised. Their movement is interesting. They can dart so very quickly, but also glide so smoothly.

The videos played perfectly for me and the quality is good.

hmm it is indeed very nice to look at and more natural if you look at nonn's pictures...

if you hate tha focussing sound you can do 2 things 1 buy a new camera of 2 rip the sound and put a nice music instead.

Those were GREAT Emma :D

I love seeing them move. They are slugs in the LFS, so their natural movements get lost to most people. Beautiful little things :D
