Found the problem. I use Firefox and they simply don't load.
Got my fix now - logged in with Explorer instead.

Lovely tank. Always wondered how I could make a really big nice tank without spending beaucoup $$$$ ...

Back before I was in grade school. My neighbor kept fish and I would go over to visit(no doubt a nuisance). They sent me home with the works.A large fish bowl, filter;air pump, gravel, plants, guppys, and snails. That was about 1961.

Crikey! Someone who's got me beat (started in 1964  ).

I'm guessing that's a plywood tank? Impressive that it's lasted 20 years. You obviously built it right. I would be very interested to learn about how it was built.

Martin.

Martin, I think the most important factor in the lifespan of a plywood tank is a good watertight seal.I use epoxy swimming pool paint that comes in a two part mix.If you want it to last don't skimp on the epoxy.I use at least 4 coats. Also beware of royal pleco's or other wood eaters. They can in time eat through the paint.

I hear you on the Royal Panaque. I have a Fluval 4 internal filter that is all smoothed off because of a 6" RP. Some of the moulded in features are almost gone!
