Small loach

Post by Wendie » Wed Jan 04, 2006 12:16 am

 I'm thinking of setting up a small tank (10) and am wondering what would be suitable. I already have kuhlis, and Yo Yo's so I would like something else that would remain on the small side and not outgrow a 10 or 15 gallon tank.

Striatas stay fairly small, but even they would prefer more than 10 gallons...

Honestly? I wouldn't keep loaches in anything smaller than a 30 gallon. small tanks crash much too easily and loaches are delicate creatures. Yoyos get large, at least mine did, as Shari said striatas are smaller, but loaches like hunks of wood and rockwork to really thrive in and a 10 gall is too small for an effective habitat imo. Sidthimunkis stay small, but they are expensive, and do not tolerate flucuations in water chem too well. In addition, loaches need well-matured tanks, at least 6 months stable so keep that in mind. But my aim is getting better.
